Blastocyst Culture

A blastocyst is an embryo developed up to Day 5 from fertilization which has 2 different cell types (trophoblasts and inner cell mass) and a fluid cavity.

During IVF treatment at our centre in SURAT, usually after fertilization, the resultant embryos are transferred to the uterus on day 3 or day 5. Recent developments in growing the embryos beyond day 3 up to day 5 are known as Blastocyst Culture. This technique is available in only some centres like ours. We select the best quality embryos for transfer. High risk of multiple pregnancies can be overruled by proper culture using a supportive culture environment and nutrient enabling for the rapid growth of embryos to the blastocyst stage. Such culture increases the chances of pregnancy.

Blastocyst culture transfer is a technique that is developed for in vitro fertilization. Using this procedure, we intend to increase pregnancy rates while reducing the risk of multiple pregnancies.
